Climbing to New Heights

Have you ever seen something and not known exactly what it is you were looking at? I was walking down a dusty West African road when I spotted this man climbing a palm tree. I had often seen red palm clusters being harvested in this way, but this palm tree seemed barren, almost dead. What was he doing?

My local guide told me he was harvesting the palm sap that they make into palm wine. I guessed it was like harvesting maple sap to make maple syrup; a cultural event I am familiar with from my home state of New Hampshire.

So, yes, things are not always as they seem. I am not a website developer, yet here I am with my newly launched website! Lately I have been keeping busy adding some of my writing samples, posting blog entries, and explaining some of my current writing projects to you, my reader. You never know what adventures lurk just around the corner! May we always be ready to rise to new heights.
